Installation Problem

When i try to install STALKERSOUP, it says "Incompatible STALKERSOUP version: 1.1.0012
A minimum of 1.10017 is required"

But i have to download the 12 version and then update it to the 17 version. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

apparently you have to download a torrent as well. I dont remember doing this so I might have used the other method for downloading mentioned in the instructions.

You don't need a torrent for 1.10012. The torrent is just an alternative download

Your best bet, as td3005 suggests, is to follow the Installation Help guide to the letter, especially if you're not using Windows 7, and download one file at a time from Mega

EDIT: If you've already tried to install the game without success, you need to get rid of every last trace of your previous installation - right down to the registry entries - before attempting a fresh install...

Can I download it to my Desktop as I am using Windows 10 instead of the C drive. Although I already did that with the MEGA install.

You can download the files to anywhere you want. Just don't INSTALL them to your C:\ drive

The Desktop is not usually a good place to download/store large files. The Desktop is part of Windows, which lives in your RAM. So if you download a 7.22Gb file to your Desktop, you're using up 7.22Gb of your available RAM  

On a maintenance note: if you tidy your Desktop, and move any largish file somewhere else (you can still create a shortcut to it on your Desktop), you'll find you have much more RAM available at no extra cost. I aim to keep all the working files and shortcuts on my Desktop (currently 252 of them) to under 100Mb total  

Thanks guys, it turned out the problem was that i needed to removed an old remnant that was deleted via my control panel uninstall menu.
