| Hi to all At present I am running on win 7;64 with the soup on a partition (E) my main is (C) all is ok, if I install win 10 that I am being plagued to install will I need to d/l another version to work with this win 10, or will the current one that I have work ok, my rig is getting a bit long long in the tooth bit like me, but I see some have a fair few problems with 10 even on a partition, but as win 7 is not supported any more the only option seems win 10. !

| My suggestion is to stay on Win 7. I switched to Win 10 Pro 64 two years ago, but I could play Stalkersoup because he was on Local Disc D: and i didn't have to reinstall the game, i just kept playing, but the other day i was cleaning my whole PC and I deleted everything from it, I have previously switched all programs and stuff to external HDD. I have installed the game like many times before, on partition D: i followed the win 10 installation of Stalkersoup, did the update from 1.10012 to 1.10019 but i can't even start the game because it throws a BUG right away. The guys from here tried to help, especially TrueB but I still haven't found a solution, because it should work, since I followed the procedure and partition D: it was clean and I checked with Revo Uninstaller that there might not have been anything left of Stalkersoup, so I'm currently on a break as far as the game is concerned, but if I don't find the solution, I'll be back to Win 7.

| I have been using win10 for a long time now without issues, I tend to think that you removed dx9 from your system and that is what I would look at reinstalling | |

Hi TB, do you use Win 10 home or pro for running Stalkersoup? Regards, TrueB |

| pro on an Alienware Area 51m as well as an older machine for testing purposes. There have been several occasions where players have upgraded and lost the dx9 and dx11 as they are considered legacy in win10 | |

Thanks for the info TB. Can dx12 run with the 32bit engine okay for Stalkersoup, and isn't dx14 on its way. Microsoft on auto downloads have my Windows pro now on the latest sandbox version. Perhaps for those concerned as to whether they can get new updates to work, can use the Sandbox to test it without having to clean their registery, if they haven't installed correctly. Rather, perhaps some non-saved sandbox trials first. Would you advise this please? Regards, and best wishes, TrueB.

| The trick to windows 10 is do not install games on the C drive, if you install games on a secondary drive it will get rid of many problems that games have
windows 10 has a wierd file system / permission type thing on the C drive so avoid installing stuff on that drive, use it for OS only

| Thanks all, it would seem that the soup likes some set ups with 10 but not others , mm. I got my daughter to split her drive as she bought a machine with 10 all ready installed I thought poss I could test to see if it would run, I went through the process and installed on a clean drive, but to no avail all I got was a black screen and white arrow much perplexed, If I load 10 and the same thing happens the SS for me will be dead in the water, and as SS is constantly evolving and getting larger and debugged hopefully and will go to 64 bit, and I will not have 7 to fall back to as I am not sure you can reinstall 7 from 10, it seems I am in a major quandary as to what to do.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but did you follow all the instructions to the letter in the Installation Guide, including the Windows 10 section?

er ! Hi Nemisis..., there are quite a few players that use Win 7, to play Ssoup. Certainly in the past, it was possible for when a graphics card acted up, I was able to return to Win 7. As support is ending in January, it may be worth giving it a go. As it seems you have a free use of your daughters partitioned drive, you could try loading the game. It runs best on a drive without other programs and data on imo. Your daughter can possibly help you install the game. Windows 10 works fine with me, and TecnoBacon aka TB uses it for editing the game too. All the best, TrueB. |

| Hi Sword2012
That I cannot say one way or another, I remember that installation of 10 must not be on C;, thats why I went for loading on the partition, I suppose I might well have missed an installation point important to the running of SS, as loading on 10 is a more complex as against win7 and as I had a clean drive, no niggles of missed unloaded files to impede the installation, what I am concerned about is if my set up being upgraded to win 10, and the same situation occurs after drowning my win7 with 10, SS will not be playable well at least not for me, and help to keep me away from house work !. (yes dear coming) So any ideas would be appreciated, I will reread the 10 installation instructions and see if I can spot any possible errors I could have made. I know from earlier installs of SS that every file must be removed, just one can screw things badly.

| Thanks TrueB I have put SS on my partion ie E; and runs sweet as a nut, well nearly, as I say I will reread the 10 installation instruction and even print them off just to be certain I do not miss any thing If I go for installing win10, as I already have SS on my the partition, I suppose win 10's file structure will go through to my partition with SS on, or do you suppose I can keep my E partition on win 7 and let C absorb the win 10, I suppose I might need a separate drive completely for that to happen. | |
