Bummer died

When Viktor and I return to the Warlab, Bummer is dead. The Bring Viktor Hologram to Maples is done, but Maples won't give me the Make the Klenow artefact for Maples task.

I don't know why Bummer would be dead, or why that would interfere with Maples' task, but STALKER games do have some strange prerequisites at times.

Did you talk to Viktor before talking to Maples? (I don't know if that is important, it is just something I always do.)

My PC is switched off now, so I can't look at it until tomorrow. In the meantime, you could try resurrecting Bummer and see if that makes any difference.

To resurrect someone, make a save and then target the body and enter [ESC] and then [R]. The save is because it usually crashes the game first time, but oddly it often works on the second attempt. However, some NPCs can't be resurrected for some reason, so I don't know if it will work on Bummer.

Thanks. I don't think Bummer dying has anything to do with Maples not giving me the task. I tried several things, e.g., talking to Maples before Viktor arrives, after, before talking to Viktor, after, etc. I was finally able to advance when I used the spawn menu at the Radar spawn point from Army Warehouses, waiting for Viktor to arrive, but not talking to him. Hopefully, that helps someone else if they run into the same issue. 

Also, I gave up on using the ladder. Again, I tried several things; crouching, low-crouching, side-jumping, side-walking. I even went to the top of the ladder and jumped to various ledges. In the end, I just used the spawn menu each time.
