Game crashes when trying to load a certain area

I'm currently trying to enter the Backwater area but regardless of which point I try to enter in by, the game crashes. I'm not entirely sure when this started happening, I know I wasn't having problems entering this area prior to triggering the "storm".

Has anyone else had this or know of any solutions?

It is possible that the game is trying to load a corrupted NPC or item file. Sometimes you can avoid the immediate area where it is trying to load, but from the sound of it you have already tried this. I suggest that you send a save game to Aleks at adoler(at)gmail.com so he can take a look at it.
