The last couple of days win 10 has wanted to install, in the
middle of the fight in ATP with the bandits it has crash the
game, has any one else had this problem, have they been
able to put a stop to it, I have win 7 and I want to keep it,
I have win 10 on another rig and its a right pain, short of
pulling the plug on my internet when playing SS I am not
sure if there is a way of telling MS to get lost.

If you prefer Windows 7, then keep it

I still use Windows 7, and despite being retired I still service computers. I've seen Windows 10 up close and am appalled at its forced updates for those who aren't in the know

Most of my clients ask me to make Windows 10 look and behave like Windows 7, and I personally have no intention of changing unless it becomes absolutely necessary

Having said that, you'll need to ask whoever services your computer to remove the updates that force the change to Windows 10. The persistent one for this is KB2952664 but there are others, including KB3112343, KB3135445, KB3068708, KB3080149, and KB3021917 that prepare your PC with all the files needed for Windows 10 in advance

Microsoft are trying to push their Windows 10 business model on everyone, and you now have to be very careful what you download via Windows Update each month. I usually wait a further month after their release until every new one has been tested in the wild...

Also happily on Windows 7 here, and intend to stay that way until I am forced to change - probably when I need a new computer. Hopefully I can nurse my current rig along until MS support for Win 7 ends (Jan 2020, not that far away really!) and I will consider my options then.

Hi Sword,  thanks for that info, these KB files is it poss to find them in the system, are they buried in the system some were, can they be deactivated by any means through some other avenue.

When one goes for shut down you get 'updates do not turn your machine off' or may be shutting down defeat the updates that are linked to 10, as MS is now forcing the update to 10 now it crashes SS to late, tell it to 'go away' in a polite way to late.

Alas I cannot afford a computer expert to help out to that extent, being retired money is not very common to be spent on frivolous items, well that what the wife says, who am I to argue.

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
I was given another rig but not asked what I wanted and that has 10
on it, I cannot get to grips with it's weird desk, I think MS has made
a massive mistake with win10, well that's my opinion any way.

Hi Nemesis

Go to Windows 7 Control Panel, then Programs and Features

On the left go to 'View Installed Updates'

Find those Windows Updates I referred to, right click on them, and Uninstall them one by one

After that, go to Windows Update, and change your settings to 'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them'

Next time those suggested updates come back, right click on them and 'Hide Update'

If you run into problems, feel free to PM me santa
