PostSubject: Save, save, and save again...   Wed 30 May 2018 - 10:50

I read some were that its not good to have to many save files
for some reason, ok if one is to put a stack of saves in the corner
some were, how many should be put aside I have from this restart
350 so far, the start files are 7_all.dds and 7_all, at the other end
there is an 'all' file on it own, so if I was to take a chunk of files
out say from 7_astro to 300, should I leave the 7_all.dds and the
other 'all' in place, as it seems the 'all' files are important when you
  put in patches.

I'd suggest you sort by date, and you don't need to keep the 'ALL' saves in your 'saves' folder. Whenever you're doing a tidy up, just keep your more recently dated files - maybe those of the past week or so, depending on how often you play...

All the rest you can archive. I have folders of saves from July-Dec 2016, Jan-June 2017, July-Dec 2017, etc

That'll keep them tidy, and avoid overstressing the game by trying to show them all in the Load menu

Whenever you need one, just drop the two connected files back into your main 'saves' folder Wink

Did not know the game will accept saves from before the present, say you have forgot to
drop of some thing when you have to go to some were like cordon, how bigger save do
think one could get away with like doing a job for sid that one forgot.

You can go back to any point in time with an old save, although it may not work in the same way once new content has been added with a later patch

But once you do that to solve a problem, you'll need to continue playing from that point, for the game to make any sense and include what you've just done to correct the playing error

Players like pchester, kd6dm, and myself only keep old saves for reference to find out what happened at that point, maybe to check the context of a dialogue, or help out another player

Practically, going too far back over a long period of time can cause problems if the game has been updated several times since then...
