PostSubject: Why visit the Wish Granter?   Mon 2 Apr 2018 - 11:47

I understand that visiting the wish granter is a some thing to be
done SAP, one assumes getting there can only be done when all
links are open to the plant, that chain of events are some way down
that allow this, to open these links a fair few tasks should be bypassed,
how important is the wish granter on a scale of 1-10 for the game to
be played on with out the whole all the Soup being screwed, like you
should have done this, that, or....

Some areas (such as the
Spoiler:

in NPP) are now physically blocked so you have to complete the Wishgranter first. Other than that, the general recommendation is to stick more or less to vanilla Shadow of Chernobyl missions up to the Wishgranter.

Personally I like to clear up as many missions as I can before moving on to a new area. I avoid the Swamp until later (partly because it is one of my least favourite maps!), but I do visit ATP and Forgotten Forest - you have to do FF anyway, to reach Voronin.* This is before I leave the Bar area for WT and Yantar.

*EDIT: sjhonson has reminded me that you can get into the Duty area after talking to Barman, you don't necessarily have to do Plichko's mission.

IMO the crunch point comes when you reach
Spoiler:

After that I find it best to follow the vanilla storyline up to the Wishgranter.

The answer to that question is open to interpretation.

If all you want out of StalkerSoup is Stalker, then simply gaining access to the Wish Granter is all it takes, gaining a more or less vanilla flavor in the game.

I personally feel that SS goes so far beyond Stalker that it is a completely new game containing elements of the original game.  Since the original game is embedded in SS, you can certainly play it as though it was 200x instead of 201x.

Going to the Wish Granter is only one component of SS.  Will you miss out on some missions if you streamline access to the Wish Granter?  I'm not sure.

What I do feel sure of is that the player will miss the heart and soul of SS in doing so.  StalkerSoup is as non-linear as I think you can take a computer game without significant AI (and likely, a multi-million dollar budget).  What I play may bear no resemblance to what you play other than some critical intersections in the SS timeline.

We have some players who want to reap the "physical" riches of the Zone. Others sense something else, solving the mystery as to what and why the Marked One did as he did in the original Stalker.  And, there are other lines of approach and everything in-between.

Hi all.. yes I see where you are coming from, if one just wanted the run through to the wish granter
as is given in the walk through's you might just as well start as the collector in cordon, so I think I'll
start over as fang's story lines not working well, i've probably gone wrong some were earlier, missed
some thing, I did the run through to create the links to the wish G and things started to go wrong when
I got back, I think its agroprom, so it looks like doc here I come again, oh well that's life, try,try etc..
 thanks for your insights....

If only I could find where or what I did wrong all I have to do is search
560 saves...........

AFAIK, one reason collector mode is there is for those who do not want the entire SS story.  I've played that way, it was interesting but I had to imagine a lot of "whys" so went back to story mode and began again.

I've done so multiple times now, each time I get something new from the experience, much like a good movie.

If you're having issues with Fang's story line perhaps members can help set it straight.  I'm not sure.  I hope you enjoy yourself in any case.  Why else should we do anything by choice?

The fang problem seems to stem from you get instruction to go see fang at the bar before
giving the ring back, and take the map copies to cordon, well fang says nothing about red
forest and star man is not in cordon, so things come to a stop as I do not get the jump to
red forest to get the paper work, so I assume I have not done some thing to trigger those
events, reading the walkthrough the sequence seems right but obviously some thing not.
